Bhakundo Mero Mutu Ko Betha (Soccer- My Heart-throb) By Bishal Dhakal

The present condition of soccer in Nepal can be considered to be optimistic. If this momentum and direction could be carried on, Nepali soccer can make a distinct presence in the South Asian region and possibly in the whole Asian region in another 5 to 10 years. The performance of the national team itself is not really high quality, however it can be said that it is headed toward the right direction. For the country like Nepal and with its dire economy there are very few chances for the national team to participate in lot of the international tournaments, so every chance they get are very precious and are of great importance.

In this narration, I am trying to elucidate that the solid economy is needed for the infrastructure, however not for the future of the sport. That is because after couple of good results, economy itself finds its path to the sport.

There are a lot of things that we don't have in our country, well does that makes a difference? The most important thing is that we don't have is a mutual respect for sport professionals, the status of the player a good player is no more than a national hero in the other nation, but at the same time to be sportsman in Nepal is not appreciated at all. Simplest example of which is parents rather wishing their kids to be doctor or an engineer or get into some other salaried profession. Well, there is no question that they love their children immensely however on the other hand isn't it better for their children to get into some sport and become a professional than drop out of the same class for 3 consecutive years.

In Nepal, sports have very tough existence and that is all due to the fact that lack of relations between the society and the professional players. Once we start to put the image of the players of the national team in the national hero list, we are going to make a huge step ahead. Well, we can see there are a lot of social workers and there are lot of people who work for the nation without caring what they get and what they have, but the thing that they get is respect and love from the society which is lot of importance for anyone who have the purpose of nation behind them, that is what our sportsman do and they have the right of being national hero. Once they start getting that the people are going to give a huge importance for the sports and people around that.

Particularly talking about the soccer in the country like Nepal the game has very big popularity and that is always growing, no matter there is love for cricket growing as well. The phenomena of the popularity of the cricket are quite obvious with the commercial around the Indian national team. But why can't we see another close friend of Nepal, Chinese making big stride in the sport and that is the country we have to learn from. The way they played world cup, that is a huge progress and that is what we have to have in mind.

There is another factor that have huge impact in the Nepal football that is of the attitude of the professionals themselves, they are in Love with the habit of pulling leg of own colleagues and that have been a very big example in the recent feud between Ganesh Thapa and Geeta Rana .

There are big looses made by the players and nation, than any of the creator of the new association made. recently the feud was over and they had compromise and that is good news for the Nepal football and that is good step .

The league games are also starting soon and a popular tournament with "Khukuri Cup" is already underway in different districts and that is positive news for the soccer lovers of Nepal. There is also couple of matches for the national team in Asian cup and what could be a greater opportunity for our players to demonstrate their abilities.
